Follow the instructions below:

  1. Obtain another 1099 form MISC
  2. Obtain form 1096 from IRS which summarizes 1099 information.
  3. Entering the correct information and check the”corrected” box right at the top of the form.
  4. Complete the correct information on 1096 form.
  5. Mail the revised copy of the form to the IRS and independent contractor.

Hello,

I have a contractor and I did an error on his social, I have the form 1099-Nec and the 1096 forms. In the 1096 form I put a 1 in box 3 because is one form submitted again to correct the mistake and because is one form I only put the amount reported for that form in box 5?

Also with the 1099-nec, there was a copy for the state tax department, do I mail it to the state or also to the IRS?

Can I deduct if I donated for a funeral from my company's money?

No, you cannot deduct the money that you contributed for a funeral as a business expense.  It is considered a gift, not a business expense.

Do I need to void the incorrect ss#? It belongs to someone else.

Or once I make a corrected 1099 it will automatically void the 1st one?

The corrected 1099 will replace the original 1099 in the IRS systems so you don't need to worry about the original once you have submitted the corrected forms.
