If you already file your return, you no longer can change your bank information. If the info you provided is for a closed or invalid account, the government will just mail you a refund check.

To change your bank information if you didn't file your return:

  • Login to your account.
  • Select the File section in TurboTax.

I filed our 2020 tax return via TurboTax and the IRS accepted our return on March 25, 2021; and we have to pay (not getting a refund).  Unfortunately, my bank notified me today that the payment account I selected (our savings account) is a non-transaction account, ineligible to receive this type of transaction.   TurboTax doesn't allow me to make changes from our savings account to our checking account.  What now?

You can't change your bank information if you already filed your return and the IRS accepted it.

To make payment you can visit Paying Your Taxes
