I used turbotax to file my 2022 tax return and had to file an amended tax return for 2022. I'm trying to download my original tax return, but the only option in the documents section of turbo tax where it says "downlaod tax pdf" downloads my amended tax return. If anyone can point me to where i can access my original tax return, that would be greatly appreciated.
TurboTax Online saves only the most recent version of your tax return. It does not retain previous versions. When you amended your return, the amended version was saved and replaced the original version. If you did not save a copy of the original version on your own computer before you amended it, there is no way to get the original version from TurboTax.
A Tax Return Transcript from the IRS will have the information from your original return, but it is not in the format of the actual forms. A copy of your tax return from the IRS might be the original version. A copy of a tax return costs $43, and it takes up to 75 days to get it. On your Form 1040-X, column A contains certain figures from your original tax return. It doesn't have all the detail of the original return, but depending on why you need the original, the figures in column A of the 1040-X might meet your needs.
If you did not save the original tax return before amending then the original tax return is gone.
