How can I update 1099-DIV worksheet? TT reads an address of a financial institute incorrectly and keeps asking me to correct ZIP during review.

It is TX not WA on 1099-DIV, but I can't find a way to change it since TT doesn't provide a way to enter an address.

If you are using Turbo Tax Desktop, you can edit the address of the payer from your Form 1099-DIV as follows:

  1. Switch to Forms Mode by clicking on "Forms" at the top of your TurboTax screen.
  2. In your left panel click on the 1099-DIV that you want to edit the address on
  3. The Form 1099-DIV will appear in the right panel of your TurboTax screen
  4. Scroll to the bottom of your Form 1099-DIV
  5. Click on the address box for the payer
  6. Edit the address

It will look something like this:

To switch to Forms mode, click on "Forms"

In your left panel select the Form 1099-DIV you want to edit:

Scroll to the bottom of your Form 1099-DIV to edit your payer address:

Click here for "Where Do I Enter Form 1099-DIV in TurboTax Online?"

Click here for "What is IRS Form 1099-DIV?"

Please clarify your question.

  • Where did you find a 1099-DIV Worksheet?
    •  I don't see it in TTO or in Forms in TTD.
  • Are you running Federal Review?
  • At what point do you get the error?

Please contact us again to provide some additional details.

IF you uploaded a PDF or picture of that 1099-DIV?........then go back to it and delete it entirely...the entire form.

Then go back and this time enter it all manually....

at the bottom of two successive pages are selections to:

Change how I enter my form

and

Type it in myself

Never upload a picture or a PDF of any form...the software's AI that interprets the data makes too many errors.

It is the last part of the filing (yes, federal review) where TT reviews all entries I provided. The worksheet is created by TT when it computes taxes on dividends from 1099-div forms I provided.

The issue is TT reading the address of a financial institution incorrectly as I upload one of my 1099-div, more specifically the state. It is TX on the 1099-div, but TT reads it as WA and puts it in the worksheet; thus, zip code doesn't match and kept asking me to correct zip. TT doesn't provide a way to correct the state in the worksheet nor a way to enter the address of a financial institution by myself in anywhere afaik. I tried uploading the 1099-div several times, but it didn't help.

Anyway, I realized worksheets including the one for 1099-div are not typically submitted to IRS, so I entered a WA zip code to work around the issue.

Thanks for your response.

Thank you, Linda. Good to know. I was using the online version, but I hope TT will fix the issue. I didn't have the issue the previous year.
