Is the amount sent/issued by the IRS the same as the refund amount shown on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 35a? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

If not, then go to this IRS website for information on reduced refunds - https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203

There is no place to enter anything about that on your 2024 tax return.  Each tax year is separate.

If your refund was less than you expected for 2023- then you need to follow up and sort out why.   First---what did the IRS refund site say they issued to you?   Did the IRS reduce your refund for something you owed like child support or bad taxes, or a mistake they found?   Or...did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund?   Did you compare your refund amount to the amount that should have been deducted for the fees?

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

  • Did you file the 2023 taxes?
  • Did you get any refund?
  • Was the refund less than you expected?
  • Did you get a tax notice for a reduced amount?
  • Did you have outstanding taxes, or owe child support?
  • Did you contact the IRS?
