How can I get an original W-2 for prior years? like 2016?

I am filing my taxes late for 2016 so I have to send them by mail. On the front of my finished taxes, to mail, it states I need to attach "first copy or copy B of forms w-2". Unfortunately, I do not have the original W-2, only a scanned copy of it.

A scanned copy should be fine. 

The IRS will have the information that your employer submitted to them as well.  If everything matches up with your return, there will be no problems.  Be sure to keep a copy of the W-2 for your own records as well.
