how can I find my original tax return if I amended my return? it looks like I can only download my amended not my original

If you did not save the original tax return as a PDF before amending, then the original Form 1040 is gone.

Before you amended your tax return you were supposed to save the original as a pdf.   If you did not do that, the original is gone--it was overwritten by the amended return.
