Ok. It’s March 3rd I filed on the 7th of February. I still have no refund date it just says one will be provided when known. I filed for the first time with CTC because my wife and I have a baby now. But I know people who filed just A few days before us with 2 kids and they got theirs last week.. so I don’t get it. We got our state refund last week.

@Just_nate Even though the IRS issues 9 out of 10 tax refunds within 21 days, it's possible your return may require additional review and take longer to process.

The IRS started processing returns later than in prior years and as such has a backlog to work through. They also just recently started processing returns claiming EIC and/or ACTC.

During processing, the government reviews your refund. During the review process, they look for math errors on your return (extremely rare in TurboTax) and they also check if you owe back taxes, unpaid child support, or other debts.

If they need to make any corrections, they may offset (reduce) your refund. In some cases, the correction might even increase your refund.

Once that part's done, the government approves your refund, which means it's ready to be deposited or sent.  At that point the IRS site will update with a direct deposit date. The general timeline of e-filed returns is: Transmission > Acceptance > Processing > Approval > Refund.

Continue checking the IRS Where’s My Federal Refund? site for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight. You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status.

Some 2019 federal refunds are delayed due to the PATH Act

Why do some refunds take longer than others?

I'm in the same boat, filed and accepted on Feb 7th, it has said my refund is being processed for 3 weeks now. I did file earned income and child tax credit but my friends who did the same got their refunds on Feb 26th, they did file on Jan 27th so I knew mine would be later but I'm starting to get worried

If it has been longer than 21 days, please contact the IRS directly for an explanation.

What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?
