Hi, I'm filing my amended return. I initially expected to have some tax due, so I made a payment to the IRS via their website. How do I report this payment in TurboTax?

The payments page only allows to enter amounts paid with the extension

Did you ever file an original return yet ?   If so did you pay the original balance due or get the refund yet ?

Yes, I've made two payments so far. The first was the payment due with the original return that I filed and then second is what I estimated I would need to pay with the amended return, but now I can't find where to report the second payment.

To get it to line 16 either add it to the amount paid with an extension  or  manually add the amount after you print the return.

"manually add the amount after you print the return. "

What ? - not a good solution .

If you mail in the amended return it is fine ... for you just add it to the extension payment like you originally posted.

Thank all! Reporting on the extension payment does not show this as an additional payment, but rather reduces my amount due on my 1040. The math is completely wrong in this case. Any ideas on what to do other than manually fix the return?

When you make an estimated tax payment, it will show on line 26 of form 1040 "Estimates and other taxes paid" regardless of where you enter the estimated payment in TurboTax. However, there is a place to enter it in TurboTax, for which you need to choose the Visit All tab in the Estimates and other Taxes Paid tab as follows:

Then, you will come to a screen that says "Federal estimated taxes for (year)  You can enter your estimated tax payment there.
