Hi, I filed our taxes and they were accepted by the IRS yesterday 1/24/22. Today(1/25) i received a 1099-int in the mail for $10.32. Should I file an amendment or wait

the interest payment was from an irs payment last year on the amended unemployment. I had no idea it existed because it was deposited in our bank account with the payment

As your tax return is accepted, you will need to amend your return to add the Form 1099-INT.

Amending won't delay your original refund. However, if you're amending to claim more money, the IRS says to wait until you've received your original refund before filing an amendment. Once you've received your original refund, feel free to cash or spend it while your amendment gets processed

Please be aware that Form 1040X will not be available in TurboTax until February 24, 2022, but once it is available, you will be able to prepare and e-file your amended return.

Please see this TurboTax article for instructions on how to amend your tax return in TurboTax.

So should I wait until I'm able to electronically on turbotax or should I download the form, complete it and mail it in?

do not amend your tax return for such a small amount.

If you add ten dollars of interest income, likely your tax will not change anyway.

if you are in the high bracket, the additional tax is $3.00.

If you e-Filed, 1040, you get one e-File of a 1040-X.

Please save it in case something significant comes up.

You will definitely want to wait until the IRS has finished processing your original return before you submit an amendment. If the amendment means there is a small amount due, tax payments are not due until April 18th.
