Hey , if I want to stop the direct deposit by calling the irs because I just noticed the account it’s sending to is closed , what’s the latest I have to do this,?

My refund date is the 3rd of august .

Nothing you can do.  If the bank rejects it the IRS will mail  check to the address on your return.  So that will add time.

If you e-filed:

Banking information for direct deposit is wrong

If you entered incorrect banking information  -- or information for a closed account ---   for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected.  If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it.  The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.  Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return.  Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.

@corterriusjohnso - because of the risk of fraud, the IRS will not permit changes to banking information once the tax return is accepted by the IRS; it's for your protection..... as others have stated, you'll get a check in the mail,
