Wait until your initial return is complete before submitting an amended return. Amended returns cannot be e-filed either. They can only be mailed and they take some time. I recently amended my last 3 years to claim my children and the EIC/ACTC. I just started receiving the $20k in checks from the Feds and it takes a lot of time.
Anyways, it's important you wait for the original return to complete before doing the amendment. Once you mail in the amended return, like Where's my Refund, the Feds also have "Where's my amended refund".
