Well, I totally understand... My refund was completed and filed, and accepted on Feb 1st.  I used Turbo Tax just like I did last year, and Here it is April 13th and no refund or any bars on anything!!!  I called three times and the IRS said there isn't anything wrong with the refund, and they said to be patient... REALLY!  Then I received a letter dated March 15h telling me they needed an additional 30 days.  Then I get another letter dated March 17th telling me they need another 60 days!!!  There is nothing complicated about this refund, everything is the same as last year... The most disturbing part of this story, is they state on the phone and in both letters that they don't need any additional information from me!   So my answer is... you might just have to play the waiting game for no reason at all!!!

My also delayed this long and at the end it had to do with Obamacare insurance penalty and the fact that I did not need to pay it every month for my spouse

I would keep bugging them, no matter what they say. Last year I kept getting the same story until November about my refund. I finally got in the phone with a female agent who was able to check and within 2 minutes found that no one had touched my return since I filed it. After that I had it in less than a week

I feel you, I’m still waiting on mine and in between the time I filed and now my property taxes went up increasing my mortgage payment by $400 a month. Right now I’m just trying to dig myself out of the hole and with the money I should have gotten back by now it would put me in the clear. For now though I’m just working 84 hour weeks and surviving with enough to pay my mortgage and my gas to get to work

Please consider changing your withholding so that you do not have to go through this again next year.

I'm very disappointed in the irs n the government...they take no time to take money that's owed but dont wanna give u monies when its due...typical keep the poor..poor...we work to hard for our money to be waiting n treated unfair...I definitely fell as if I'm being ripped off...not kool

Use this TurboTax website to check the status of an e-filed return and if it was either accepted or rejected - https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then a date for Sending will be available on the IRS website.

See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).  Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."

- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.

- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.

It should then transfer you to an agent.

Did you get it? I've been waiting 6 months and nothing. They told me today I would have it and still don't, still says processing. I've had 3 letters already and not once did they ask for additional information. Just sitting here waiting forever!

If you don't get good info/results from the IRS, you can contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocate for your area.   They are especially prone to help if you have a hardship, or if there have been continued delays with lack of info from the IRS.    At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate.

What phone number did you call to get that woman to look into your delay? It would be nice to know someone can help! We filed in Late Feb.

To reach a live IRS agent use the phone number and detailed steps to navigate the IRS phone tree that DoninGA provided above.   If you don't get good info or results from the IRS, I left info above on how to contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service.

Ok...this really does work....follow the directions for calling the 1-800 number.  I spoke with a live person who informed me that my refund is currently in "review"  ( even though it's a one page simple return, but I did have to fill out additional questions online to "verify" my identity)   I was then informed that as of July 12, 2019, it's going to be ANOTHER 60 days before I receive my refund!  Good grief! So I guess I'm now looking at the middle of September or the first of October before I will receive my refund check.  Wow...this is Ridiculous.  If you are still waiting, I highly suggest you call and speak with someone.  Good luck....

Why is it taking so long to receive my tax check? I filed back in February it’s been five months.

Would anyone know how to contact the IRS to speak with an agent?  I filed in March and have yet to receive my refund.

I spoke with someone and she said that what I reported for my income does not match what they have, to wait about a month or two and I will receive a letter to show proof of my income. So I wont be getting my tax return until Christmas.

(I sued my old employer for unpaid wages and won the case in 2018, upon them having to pay me for the wages owed they took out a lot more in taxes than I have ever had taken from any single job. In the lawyer paper work they were to provide me a W-2 and never did, we were unsuccessful in contacting them for one after that as well so the tax place used the previous years tax information for the company to proceed. So **bleep** right I reported that amount, have the proof and check stub and I want it to count)

So I'll be getting money back just in time to pay taxes next year.
