Getting a copy of tax return that husband filed jointly while we're separated

My husband filed our taxes with Turbo Tax jointly while we were separated. I'm just started the process of legal separation and need a copy of the tax return which he's been less than helpful in getting to me. Is there a way I can get it without going through him?

Call the IRS at 800-829-1040,and explain your situation, you are not the first person to have this trouble.

If this is a current year return, you can file your return by mail as married filed separate or head of household (if you have kids).  Your refund will be slow, but the IRS will be after your hubby for filing a return without your approval.

You can get prior year returns (2015 and earlier) from the IRS, for a fee.  The will explain the procedure for you.

Good Luck
