Please clarify your question.

  • Do you mean form 1040-SR?
  • Is there any issue with your Social Security?
  • Did you get an error message?
  • Did you get an IRS tax notice?
  • If so, did it describe the issue?

Please contact us again to provide some additional details.

@RJLaRoche

Exactly what date did you e-file?

AND

Did you use the "Online" or the "Desktop" software to e-file?

(MAC or Windows computer?)

Something strange is going on here...a couple of posts about line 6b of the form 1040 not being submitted properly.  Could be the start of something massive.

We would very much like to look at a sanitized copy of your tax file to see if any error occurred in regard to the Social Security income you reported.

Here are the instructions to allow us to see (the numbers only, no personal information) your file.

Once you get the token number, you can add that to this thread of questions and please include

@KrisD15    in that response

Thank you

"I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
TurboTax Online:

Sign into your online account.

Since the tax file was already sent/efiled, you will need to select "Add a State" to reopen the return.

This is only to open the file, you won't be adding a state return and it won't alter the original return.

Now you should be able to locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

Open your return.
Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.
*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)"

For those using the "Online" software, they may not be able to see the Tax Tools in the left side menu, since they've already filed.

They'll probably have to use the "Add a State" to get back into their tax file, before the Tax Tools menu item shows up on the left side.

Please see updated steps to open your return in order to send us a copy.

Again, this sends us numbers only so that we can determine if there are any errors or issues with the software.

  • Log in and on the Tax Home Screen select "Add a State".   (You are not adding a state, this is needed to get back into the return)
  • Don't make any changes in either the Fed or state return.
  • Look at the left side-bar, you might need to scroll down a bit to find  TAX TOOLS
  • Select Tax Tools and a drop-down will open, select TOOLS from the drop-down list
  • In the Tools Center popup choose Share my file with agent.

Click OK and continue

Send the token as an additional post
