For the majority of 2017 I had locality taxes withheld by my employer for a city I did not live in. How do I correct this, reimburse the wrong and pay the correct city?

Also, the locality percentage I should've paid for the city I reside in is lower one than I had withheld for the wrong local city on my W-2. How do I pay the correct Locality (Boxes 18-20)?

The only option you have is to file a city tax return for the refund, and another to make the payment. You could file the refundable return first and hope you receive the refund before the tax is due for the other city.

How does one go about doing this? I have this same issue. I my employer withheld taxes for Grand Rapids, and it should have been for Walker. Now Walker is hounding me, threatening collections if I don’t pay. Is there a way to get Grand Rapids to pay that money directly to Walker?

honestly Grand Rapids should have seen thi error (Walker obviously did) and should have corrected it log. Ago.
