Filing amended federal tax return just to attach a written document

I would like to electronically file our tax return, but I need to include the "Rental Real Estate Professional Election" document (just three lines of print). 

Since I know I can't include that with an electronic filing, I'm thinking I'll file our taxes, wait for our refund and THEN file a Form 1040-X, completing Part III "Explanation of Changes" and write that I'm attaching this document.  

Does that sound feasible??

Yes, it can be done. As you know, you will need to mail your amended return after you have received your refund.

Thanks for your response.  I've decided to just mail the return with the statement attached, as I don't want to take any chances of "red-flagging" my return.  Thanks again!
