Filed by Mail, Forgot to Sign, Refiled By Mail Immediately, Refund Was Already Issued, But IRS Sent It Back Anyways. Now What?

Here's my situation. My wife and I filed our taxes as 'Married, Filing Jointly'. I forgot to sign (and consequently forgot to have her sign it, too). A few days later, I was thinking about our tax return when I realized "Hey.... I don't remember signing our return". I looked at a photocopy of our return (made right before I mailed it out) and realized "Yep... we forgot to sign it".

I went on this site, and someone suggested to just re-print our return, sign it, and re-send it by mail. We did so immediately. The IRS accepted our return, processed it, and issued the refund we were owed.

However, after a few months, the IRS sent the first return back to us to request a signature. My question is this: Do we need to sign and re-send it again? Or should we just discard this copy?

Thank you in advance.

Just discard the copy. The IRS has processed your signed return and you have your refund.
