Filed a nonresidency form return to Hawaii but I forgot to attach federal return. They say I have to amend Hawaii state and resend. Is this correct?

If that is how the HI department of Revenue wants you to include this information, then you should just send them the information how they ask for it.

Just fill the Schedule AMD - Explanation of changes on amended return. State your reason as " did not include copy of federal return with HI nonresident state income tax return" attach a copy of your federal return and mail to the Hi department of Revenue, P.O. Box 1530 Honolulu, HI 96806-1530

I went to go do this and then it asks for what form, line, and amount change. It was confusing so I called a TurboTax expert and they told me not to amend. To just resend the forms or wait for Hawaii to ask for a federal return. Ugh this is all too confusing.
