Filed a claim for not receiving tax refund

IRS sent my tax return July 08, 2019 & to contact them on August 5th if i don't receive it in the mail (which i didn't) and i filed a claim & they said to contact them September 20th if i don't receive anything then.. I gave my new address to the IRS IN PERSON & updated my new address with the postal system. How will i know this 2nd check is being sent to the right address? I've tried to contact the IRS to speak to an actual agent with no luck.

Resending a refund check can take a while especially since you had to put in a change of address ... I would watch the IRS Where's My Refund tool for a new date of mailing over the next 6 weeks.

Here is the way to contact the IRS if you don't see the check in 6 weeks ....

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).  Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent, but there is likely to be a long wait.
