Federal Taxes Owed

Will TurboTax tell you how much you owe to Federal Taxes?  And, can it be taken out of your refund?

Yes your current return will give you a tax due or refund.  Do you mean if you owe for past years?  No.  Turbo Tax doesn't know if you owe for prior years.   If you owe the IRS will automatically keep any future refunds you get.

If you owe tax due for your 2018 return it will be shown on line 22 of your Form 1040.  And if you owe back taxes from an earlier year, and you are showing a 2018 refund on line 20a, the IRS will offset some or all of your 2018 refund to pay the back taxes owed.

Of course--you do understand you cannot be getting a refund and have tax due on the SAME tax return.

NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.

Ok great!! I was just wondering, because I may owe next year, and if I did, if it would be taken out of the return.

The way you worded that makes me think you still do not understand....you cannot get a federal tax refund and also owe tax due for your 2019 federal tax return.  You either get a refund or you owe.  It cannot be both.  If you owe tax due for 2019 that means you will be writing a check or money order or paying with a credit card. Better check your withholding to make sure you are having enough withheld to avoid owing at tax time.
