Extension for 2018 Income Tax Return

I E-filed my 2018 Personal Income Tax Return on 10-09-2019. 

However, I had applied for an extension for that year prior to 4-15-2019 and I assume it was granted since I never got a reply.

 Since i did not attach anything with the return, will the IRS check to see that an extension was filed?

If the extension request on Form 4868 was filed and approved then IRS knows you have an extension based on your name and SS number.
