The only way your refund could be on your Netspend card earlier than your refund deposit date, is if the IRS or State actually issues your refund out earlier than expected.

It can come earlier than the date the IRS provided you because when a company is sending money to your banking institute via direct deposit... in order for it to be available on the date it is posted for... they have to send the electronic transmission at least 24 hours in advance but most send it 48 hours in advance. That transmission will have a post date attached with it on when the funds are to be paid out. However, most prepaid credit/debit cards and some banks will release the funds to you as soon as they get the electronic transmission regardless what the post date says. A lot of the major banking companies will not release the funds early. You will see it pending in your recent transactions but it will show the date that it will be available which will match what the IRS said your deposit date would be.

Netspend releases the money immediately no matter if the IRS even post dates is, no matter what the schedule date for disbursement on the website. I’ve had Netspend for 10 years. I even get paid 1-3 days earlier than my coworkers with a regular bank account.
