Do I need to send in my 1098-E and my W-2 with my 1040 for mail in tax return?

Turns out there is a AGI issue and I need to mail in my tax return this year and it said to mail my W-2 but do they also need my 1098-E or is that to much paperwork?

No 1098-E, just the W-2.    The IRS wants copies of all tax forms that have withholding on them, so no need to send the 1098-E.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.   You do not have to include a 1098E.

Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
