Do I need to download 2015 version of TurboTax to read 2015 .tax file? If so, how? Can I do that with the latest version? Thanks.

You need the 2015 version of TurboTax to read a .tax2015 file, but you will not be able to use an online version.

You can find a desktop version at Amazon, for example, but you might not be able to update the program.

you can't do that. TT no longer offers 2015 and that's the app you need to open the file.  you can find copies on the web to buy but they are the beta versions which means they're not likely fully compliant with the 2015 tax law. thus installing and opening your .tax2015 file can result in it being changed substantially from what was actually filed.   there are services on the web which you can send your file to electronically and they can print out the return.  one is Taxprinter, I do not vouch for them.  in the future save a copy of your tax return on your computer and one offline so a copy should always be available. hard drives/computers do go bad so storing in two places offers extra protection.
