Do I need to amend 2024 return for state charitable donation subtraction issue?

I filed both fed and state. Fed standard deduction was more advantageous, so Turbo Tax used it rather than itemized deductions. I left the schedule a in as I always do but state is now wanting me to send my receipts for all the charitable deductions as is their right but, i am wondering if amending the return and removing the charitable deductions would be a better option.

Since you have received a notice from the state, you do not need to amend the state return.  The state is already looking at the return for corrections.  If you can not provide the receipts for the charitable contributions, the state will adjust the return and disallow the credit initially claimed on the return.  This can result in a balance being due to the state.  It is best to provide the state with as much documentation as possible.
