Do I need amend if after adding the missing form TT says we don't detect any differences?

So in 2020 Tax return I forgot to add one 1099-R. This 1099-R was from rollover from 401(k) to Traditional IRA.

Distribution code, box 7: G

Taxable Amount, box 2a: 0

2b blank. Total distribution box checked.

IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box not checked.

I started the amendment, added the missing 1099-R. Using TT deluxe download on mac.

On Amended Return Summary page, it says "we don't detect any differences between your original 2020  return and your amended return, If you're sure you need to amend, explain why below"

Do I need to amend?

You do not need to amend for Code "G" if you failed to include it the first time.

There is no change in the dollar amounts.

It is possible that you entered the transaction last year and correctly posted the rollover without the additional 1099-R.

Please go back to your original  2020 tax return.

On line 5a you will see the amount you withdrew from your 401-K.

If line 5b says ROLLOVER, and the amount in Taxable amount is zero, you do not have to amend the return.

If this is the case you do not have to amend the tax return.  You can store the 1099-R with your 2020 tax information.

On original 2020 1040 Lines 5a and 5b are blank.

I checked amended 1040 and 5a has amount I had rolled over and 5b says ROLLOVER.

I also checked form 1040-X and "B. Net change" column has all values as Zero. This is as expected as 401(k) had all pre-tax money and moving that money to traditional IRA should not be a taxable event. so it doesn't change anything.

It is just that I forgot to add related 1099-R and line 5a and 5b are blank in original 1040.

Do I need to file an amendment for this?
