Disabled FT student 18+ receives survivors benefits, claimed as my dependent. No Economic Payment. Do I amend my return & let him file separately from now on? $6K/annum

Natural child. Survivor’s benefits about $6K per year. Not sure if I amend my return and let him file independently. Very confused.

You cannot amend to let him get the stimulus payment ... he is your dependent and since he CAN be claimed as a dependent disqualifies him from getting the stimulus check even if you do not claim him.
