Direct Debit for Federal and State?

After filing, I was giving the option to direct debit and did. I put date to withdraw the next day (filed 2/25 and withdraw on 2/27). How long after federal and state accepts the return for the money to be taken? Will I get an email from Turbo Tax the federal and State got the money?

It can take a few days for the IRS and state to pull their payments. And  TT will not notify you, since neither the IRS nor state notifies TT.

I also selected electronic debit as the payment method for my Illinois State tax.

 

I e-filed my return on 2/14/2021 and chose 2/16/2021 as the payment date.  It appears that Illinois processed the e-filed return about 2/26/2021.  It is now 3/4/2021 and my electronic debit has still not processed.  How long should I wait for the electronic debit to process before I need to start calling to figure out if there is a problem?

 

Also, it's a little misleading to ask for us to select a payment date (2/16/2021 in my case) but then say that the State is responsible for pulling the payment.  What is the purpose of selecting a payment date via Turbotax if the payment isn't actually sent on that day?
