Deferred Filing

I live in an area of California eligible for deferred filing of federal and state taxes until October, 2023.  Will TurboTax automatically recognize that and adjust my filing deadlines accordingly?

TurboTax will not automatically recognize your disaster area status, but you will be prompted in the interview if you qualify and want to apply the extension to file and pay the taxes.

Disaster-area taxpayers in most of California and parts of Alabama and Georgia now have until Oct. 16, 2023, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Internal Revenue Service announced today. Previously, the deadline had been postponed to May 15 for these areas.  The IRS automatically provides filing and penalty relief to any taxpayer with an IRS address of record located in the disaster area. Therefore, taxpayers do not need to contact the agency to get this relief.
