I was trying to file my taxes for 2019 with zero balance in order to apply for corona virus stimulus payment all that before turbo tax allowed me to mention that i am not meeting the minimum requirements to submit taxes for 2019 ,now when i try to use this porter that exempt me from filing 2019 taxes i get this message "Hi Sameh, we've sent your info to the IRS to process your stimulus payment" ,however my filing was not complete as i have to complete the process via Mail.
Now they don't have my bank info ,my question should i make a new account to use the 2019 exemption porter ?or should i delete my existing account and start new one with different email?
please i need advice

https://turbotax.intuit.com/stimulus-check/ link to stimulus registration (SR). It is very important that you uses this link that says register now if you don't need to file taxes this year. Otherwise, you will not be able to E-file a zero return. It also has the calculator.
The IRS says it is working on developing a web-based system for people to give the government their direct-deposit information. Keep checking www.irs.gov/coronavirus for more details on this.

File your 2019 tax return if you want to be eligible for the stimulus payment.
I meant he claimed me as a dependent for 2019, Not 2018. I was not enrolled in school but I had 2 jobs and was working.

If you were 19 in 2019 and had gross income of $4,200 or more and not a full time student then no one can claim you as a dependent. If you filed your 2019 tax return as being a dependent, then you need to amend the return to change your dependency status. If you filed the 2019 tax return as Not being a dependent and your return is being rejected, you will have to print and mail your tax return.
If you were not age 19 in 2019, then your parent could claim you as a dependent if you lived in their home for over one-half the year and you did Not provide over one-half of your own support. If this was not the case then you should have filed your 2019 tax return as Not being a dependent.
What was your status in 2019, was the return rejected?
I just turned 19 on the 30th. I was 17 for 3 months in 2018. When I lived there I was not a student and paid my expenses. I messed up my return and put can be claimed. Mine was not rejected as I filed my return before him. I called him yesterday and asked if he claimed me and he said yes and that he has gotten his return back already. Should I report it to the IRS? He uses TurboTax also if that helps.
The 2018 tax return is not relevant.
If you were age 19 on or before 12/31/2019, not a full time student and had gross income of $4,200 or more then you should not have been claimed as a dependent on anyone's 2019 tax return.
Both you and your father need to amend the 2019 tax returns that were filed.
He has to remove you as his dependent on his 2019 amended tax return. He will have to pay back any refund he received based on you being a dependent on his tax return.
You will need to change your dependency on your amended 2019 tax return.
An amended tax return, Form 1040X, can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return.

i have the same problem almost im 25 i checked the box saying someone could claim me but ive now realized i didnt qualify as a dependent i made over 4,500.I've already gotten my refund back. Nobody is going to claim me on their taxes my mom already filed so i dont qualify and nobody claimed me but i checked the box do you think im going to get the check???And also i downloaded my tax reiew on the standard deduction form(to fill out if someone can claim you as a dependent) it has a huge watermark saying "Do not file" so do you think my tax preparer put that there so that form wouldnt go through to irs? like they caught the error for me?
Hello, I see you know quite a bit about this and I need some help.
I was 22 years old and was a full time student (not living at home) throughout 2019. I also made almost 8k last year and my mother (who claimed me as a dependent did not pay ANY bills for my school or housing). I put that someone could claim me as a dependent thinking that my father would but he did not. I know that I do not qualify as a dependent
I went to file an amendment and have started the process but at the end Turbo Tax keeps saying I need to upgrade to deluxe because I have a tuition and fees/deduction and "Turbo Tax free does not cover this." This has never popped up for me and I don't know what it's referring to and what I need to do to finish filing my amendment. Please help. I want my stimulus check and will report her if need be because I cannot qualify as a dependent.

You can contact the IRS to report the suspected tax fraud. See the following link on instructions on how to report the questionable activity.
Reporting Tax fraud to the IRS
You can try to use the following link to register for the stimulus payment but you may get a rejection message if you were listed as a dependent on another tax return.
IRS Non-Filers Payment info portal
If that does not work, the only remedy you may have at this point is to file a tax return for 2020 even if you were not required to file. You will be asked for the amount of the stimulus payment you received versus the amount you actually received. If the amount received is lower than what you were entitled to, you will be given a credit on your 2020 tax return.
THEY SAID I DIDNT GET A CHECK CAUSE MY DAGHTER CLAIM ME SHE COULD NOT I DONT LIVE WITH HER SHE DONT HELP ME IM ON SSA & SSI

You are NOT going to like what I have to say ... but you will have to mail in the non filer return AND your daughter will have to amend her return to remove you IF you are truly not a dependent ... as a parent you do not need to live with your child to be claimed ... all that she has to do is pay for more than 1/2 of your annual expenses ... so if she pays more than what you get in your annual income then she was correct to claim you.
@GENEVAHUNT61 Who said your daughter claimed you? The IRS will not tell you when someone claimed you. Did your daughter tell you that she claimed you? Does she pay over half of your support? (You do not necessarily have to live with her to be claimed as her dependent if she pays for your support).
Unfortunately, if your daughter--or someone else--claimed you as a dependent, you will not be eligible for a stimulus check, since dependents cannot get stimulus checks. The stimulus check situation has caused some people who only receive Social Security or SSI to discover that various family members (among others) have been claiming them as dependents even when they should not, and it is messing up their eligibility for stimulus checks. The IRS has not put into effect any quick way to fix this. (I hope they eventually figure out a quicker way to fix this)
You can file your own tax return but if your SSN has already been used in the system--and it sounds like it has been--then your only way to file is to print, sign and mail the return. Mailed returns take a long time for the IRS to process, so your hope to get a stimulus check this year is not good, sadly. But print and mail it anyhow to get it to the IRS so that the IRS will look at the other return that used your SSN. Then the IRS will sort it out, eventually.
Meanwhile--do you fit the criteria to be claimed as someone else's dependent? If you do not fit the criteria then the person who claimed you needs to amend their return (and it would be better to do that before they get a letter from the IRS). So talk to your daughter and find out. If she did in fact claim you, all she got was a $500 credit on her own tax return. She could not get your stimulus money.
Read the criteria for the Credit for Other Dependents---do you fit as a qualifying relative?
When you prepare your own tax return, if your only income is Social Security or SSI, then enter $1 of interest so that a Form 1040 will print out and then mail it to the IRS.

Have you asked your daughter if she claimed you? She may have claimed you even if you don't meet the requirements to be claimed by her. You don't have to live with her but she would have to provide more than half your total support in order for her to claim you legally. Here are the requirements for you to be claimed by your daughter:
1. The person cannot be your qualifying child or the qualifying child of any other taxpayer. A child is not the qualifying child of any other taxpayer if the child's parent (or any other person for whom the child is defined as a qualifying child) is not required to file an income tax return or files an income tax return only to get a refund on income tax withheld.
2. The person either (a) must be related to you or (b) must live with you all year as a member of your household.
3. The person's gross taxable income for the year must be less than $4,200 in 2019. This does not include Social Security.
4. You must provide more than half of the person's total support for the year. This must include Social Security.
5. The person must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico.
Unfortunately if she claimed you there is not much you can do quickly to resolve the issue to get a stimulus check.
If she did claim you, the only way to have a chance to get the stimulus payment this year is to file a tax return. If you did that, then both you and your daughter would be claiming you and the IRS would have to contact both of you to determine who could rightfully claim you. That would probably not be done until late in the year or even next year.
You can file a tax return for 2020 in early 2021 and get the stimulus payment then. It is actually an advance on a 2020 credit.
she sounds like such a millenial. Get over it. Be grateful they didn't hold receipts and ask you to pay them back for everything over the last 19 years including hospital bills at birth.
My grandson did not get a stimulus check in the spring of 2020 when everyone got one. He had been filing his own taxes for two years and on his own providing more than half his own support during 2019, but since his parents had claimed him as a dependent in 2018 and his taxes in 2019 were mailed in instead of being electronically filed somehow he was skipped over on the issusing of a stimulus check. I had a tax accountant that said don't worry you can claim it on your 2020 taxes as a credit but I fail to see where that will be claimed.
@rothchr Line 30 of a 2020 Form 1040 is where your grandson can indicate that he should receive the stimulus check since he did not receive it yet. His mailed in amended return may still be in the pile of millions of unopened envelopes. It is taking the IRS over six months to process amended returns.
