Child Tax Credit

I had a child at the beginning of this year and the child was therefore not on my 2020 tax return. How do I get the child tax credits for 2021? Do I wait until I file next year?

Check the IRS Manage Payments portal for the child tax credit.   They are supposed to get it ready for entering children born in 2021 soon.   If they do not get it operational soon, you will get the credit on your 2021 tax return.
