Can you go back to check am amendment that was done?

I received my health plan tax form after i filed the irs sent me a notice to amend my tax form that was filed

No one can check on your amended return.  Did you mail in the 1040X form? Amended returns cannot be e-filed. You can check the status of your amended return, click on the following link
https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

Your amended return will take up to 3 weeks after you mailed it to show up on the IRS system.
Processing it can take up to 16 weeks.

I amended a return march 30 2022 it was accepted that same day the website for checking amended returns say sorry we apologize for the delay tells me to call ext 623 on irs line but I have not received it and the line is always 40 to an hour wait then hangs up after 30 min of waiting there has to be a way to just know if it’s coming or I did something wrong it’s been six months now is this normal? What does it mean if it’s this long and help please ! Thank you

@Eyl Sorry---you are going to be waiting for a longer time.

 

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six to nine months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:
