Can I see my detailed tax return as i'm preparing it?

Hi there! I'm entered in all of my information. before filing I noticed that my federal exemptions and credits are lower than last year, which surprises me because we had another child this year. Before filing, I'd like to compare the detail behind the totals from 2015 to 2016 to understand what changed. Is it possible to do that?

Yes, to preview your 1040 for free before filing:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Online.
  2. Next, click the orange Take me to my return button
  3. Click My Account at the top right
  4. Then, select Tools
    NOTE: To see the Tools option here, you must have moved past the orange "Take me to my return" button and you must be using a web browser (the mobile app will not show you the Tools feature)
  5. Once in the tool center, click on View Tax Summary
  6. Then, at the top in the white bar you will see "Back" and "Preview my 1040" - select Preview my 1040
