Can I retrieve a ttax file that I efiled and was accepted? When I started to amend, Turbo tax saved over the accepted file! Terrible! Filing should lock the TTax file.

I told TTax that I wanted to amend and it started walking me through. As I changed the data, I saved. I was not aware that I was saving over my original that was e-filed and already accepted by the Government. When I told it to amend, it should have done a save as. In any event, a filed return should always be treated as read only!

Yes, you should always save a copy of your originally filed return when you begin to Amend your return, since you are making changes to that return.  If it was a 'read-only' file you wouldn't be able to make changes to it, which is what the amendment is doing.

TurboTax does not care, since they never do anything about this.
