if you entered your 2020 w-2 it is most likely your return will be rejected. this won't occur until after e-filing opens on or about 1/24. until then do nothing. do not change your info until after you get the rejection notice. read it carefully because there can be multiple reasons for rejection. then you can fix your return and re-e-file.
you are not filing an amended return because the original was never accepted.
If the incorrect return actually gets accepted for processing there is nothing you can do but wait for the IRS to process the return ... during which they will probably send a letter for asking for an explanation of the bad information ... at that time you can address the issue. Do not be in a hurry to amend or otherwise correct this error. You MUST first see what the IRS will do ... the ball is in their court now.
