Can I print my state return without paying? I am using turbo tax premier and already e-filed federal. It keeps prompting me to pay before I can print my state.

Your fee is the same whether you e-file or mail the state return in an envelope.  If you have not paid for using the software to prepare your state return you cannot print it.

I already paid about $66 for the turbotax service. It now wants to charge me $49 to access my state return.

Correct. But do they not allow you to print state for free anymore? Every year I have efiled federal and printed and mailed the state return. It never charged me extra to print my state return.

I am finding the same thing. This is unbelievable. I have been using TT for decades and this may be the last if I can't print and mail my state return.

You can print and mail state for free from the Desktop installed program.  Not from the Online browser version.  Many people who bought the Desktop program have ended up using Online by mistake.  

I am using the desktop installed version (Premier) and am not seeing an option to print like I have for years. Will look again! Thank you

Go through the File tab again.   

There are many ways to print.  Windows or Mac?  Go up to File-Print.  You can switch to Forms and open the state return and print it.  There might be a Print Center button at top.  

Found it! Thank you. Had to click on the file by mail for the Federal (which I have already e-filed) Then it gave me the option to print and mail state.

And btw....just sold my old Volvo 740 turbo that I had for years! 🙂 Great car.
