Can I mail a revised federal return after I e-filed?

I didn't realize that a form 8949 would be required to be mailed to a 2nd IRS address. Per another thread TurboTax did not say "If you choose to summarize capital gains / losses you will need to mail a form printed out later."

I would rather revise my taxes in Turbotax to itemize the gains and losses and print out and mail with my payment to the IRS.

Can I do that even though the IRS received my e-file?

The only way to correct an already filed & accepted return, is to amended your return.  Amended returns must be mailed, they cannot be e-filed.
