Can I edit my MI-1040CR form? I put in some wrong information

I haven't filed it yet but when turbo tax reviews it, it does not recognize the incorrect information.

Yes, as long as you have not filed your return you can revisit a section and make any necessary edits.  You can try the following options.

  • Use the Search tool located in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, Enter the topic you need assistance with.  If you see "Jump to" in the search results, click on it and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • You can also try clicking on Tax Tools and then click on Tools - the Tools Center popup will display.  You'll see two options Topic Search or Topic List.  In Topic Search you will have to enter a keyword to search for, and in Topic List you can select a section of your return you would like to revisit and make any changes needed.

I had the same issue, so I called for help and the Turbo Tax representative (Yvette) was wonderful.

  1. If you can see State on the left side menu, click on it.  (If you are already at the Review screen, you should be able to bring the left side menu back up after you Review.)
  2. Click Continue and then Edit on the Michigan line.
  3. In the edit menu, click the Edit button to the right of Credit and Taxes
  4. Click Edit next to Homestead Property Credit (since the form you are referring to, is the Homestead Property Tax Credit form)
  5. Click, Yes that you want to review, and Yes that you meet the qualifications, and then keep clicking Continue until you see the question that you need to update your answer for.  (It won't be in the form like it probably was the first time you saw it, but it will correct the form.

Hope this helps, anyone else that is trying to get to that form or something similar for another state.
