Can I e-file a 2023 Form 1040

I am preparing a late 2023 Form 1040 for a friend who has had a death in his family.  Can I e-file his 2023 taxes for a refund?

A 2023 tax return can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed when using TurboTax, it cannot be e-filed.

And just checking.....you are using the installed Desktop program?  Online is only good for 2024. If you want to efile there may be a local CPA or tax place that can efile prior years.
