Yes.  An amended return form 1040-X MUST be PRINTED and MAILED, and generally takes 2-4 months to be processed.

Also, the 1040-X will not be ready until mid-February (as always).

When mailing a printed return it is always a good idea to go to the Post Office and mail it 'Certified' with 'Return Receipt'.  That way you will have proof that they received it and when it was received.

When mailing your tax return(s) NEVER put more than one return in an envelope,  if you put more than one return in the envelope there is a good chance that they will be treated as a single return and thus delay any action.

Anyone who e-filed MUST WAIT for the IRS to give them an accepted/rejected status (by checking your status via the TTax program --either with the On-Line version or the Desktop version-- before you can do anything further with your return.

If your status is still pending, you will get a "Do Not File" watermark when attempting to print the 1040X forms.
