Can I credit my 2016 refund to my 2017 taxes

I would prefer to credit my 2016 refund to my 2017 tax liability rather than collecting the refund now

Yes, you can.  Please follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Federal Taxes > Other Tax Situations > Additional Tax Payments
  2. Click Start next to Apply Refund to Next Year.
  3. On the Apply How much screen, enter the amount you want to apply to next year's taxes and then click Continue.
  4. The next screen will show your revised refund amount.  Click Continue.
