Can i change to direct deposit after i already filed for a paper check

No, unfortunately...once your tax return has been e-filed and accepted, or mailed through the Post Office...there is no way to change the way you receive your refund.

Now, if by some chance your tax return was e-filed but rejected for whatever reason, you could go back and choose the direct deposit option by:

  1. Sign into your account, click take me to my return
  2. Click the File heading
  3. Follow the prompts for Step 1. When you get to Step 2, this is where the bank account information will be. Follow the prompts to view/edit your bank account information.  
Then, once you've fixed the reason it was rejected...you can resend it.
