Can I amend 3 years worth of Maryland returns? My federal returns are good Maryland returns have been giving me many issues over the years.

I owed for the previous 2 years of returns, and paid them all last year. No penalties as I had kept all records of me contacting the state. They never issued a notice so I could not pay I held the money for that day. I finally got a notice number and paid in full online for both years so they waved any penalties. I added both years of money I paid to this return, so I must have done it wrong. I think I need to amend all the 2 previous years and this year? I received a message on their site stating no refund will given and I will receive info in a letter.

Yes, you can amend your Maryland (MD) returns for years 2021 (must be completed by 04/15/2025), 2022 and 2023. The returns for 2022 and 2023 are due dates of 04/14/2026 and 04/15/2027 respectively.

  • MD Form 502X
    • Generally, Form 502X must be filed within three years from the date the original return was filed or within two years from the date the tax was paid, whichever is later. See exceptions that may apply in the link above.
