Are they still allowing for tax refund garnishments or offsets to go through during the coronavirus? People really need that money with the economy and the amount of people not working

It may depend on why your refund would be seized.  Do you owe back taxes, child support or student loans?

TurboTax receives no information at all regarding offsets to your refund, so we do not know if your refund will be offset.

NOTE: You can contact the IRS Treasury Offset Program Call Center at 1-800-304-3107 to ask if they have an offset for you on file. TurboTax would not have that information.

they just took my sons entire return for taxes owed on a previous return. Everything I have read online about the economic stimulus package says that as of March 16 (I think I am right about the exact date ?) that no returns would be offset except for child support. I don't know if by no returns being offset they are actually referring to the $1200 stimulus payment,  or the IRS made a mistake, or why they took my sons return. and he has had no luck when trying to call. He always gets a recording saying there is no live operator available at this time. I don't know what can be done to to get the refund returned to him if  the stimulus package was referring to the initial return and not just the stimulus payment.
