Are bank counter checks accepted as payment for taxes? Bank counter checks do not have imprinted name & address on them - this would be hand-written on the check.

Yes, as long as you include the information handwritten on the check, there is no requirement that it be pre-printed on the check itself.

You should also include your phone number, SSN, and 2018 Form 1040 on the check - see page one under "How to Prepare Your Payment"

It would also be a good idea to mail it using a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know when the IRS receives it.
