Are annual dues paid to the state bar association deductible? The only IRS documentation I was able to find was regarding the initial fee paid.

Yes. Legal, licensing, and regulatory fees that are necessary for your job are tax deductible and are considered as Job-Related Expenses. The first thing you should know about the Job-Related Expenses Deduction is that it is very difficult to qualify for this deduction. That's because the expense limit is so high. In order to qualify, your job-related expenses must be more than 2% of your AGI (adjusted gross income).

To enter this is TurboTax, "Federal Taxes" > "Deductions & Credits" > Scroll down to "Employment Expenses" and click "show more", next click on "start" next to "Job-related Expenses"
