Ammending NY 2020 Tax Return

I am ammending my 2020 NY Tax Return.  I am making an adjustment for NY only (not for federal).

  • Will a 1040X be sent with my NY ammendment e-file?  I ask as TurboTax keeps asking me to put in a reason for changes for my 1040X.  There are no changes to my federal return so not sure what/if I should be putting there.  In the filing process, I click "not to e-file" for Federal as I will not be sending them anything but this has me confused for the NY ammendment.

Appreciate any guidance.

New York will receive a copy of the amended 1040X.  If there are no changes to the federal then you can put that comment in when asked.  Federal will not receive the 1040X if you do not send it to federal.
