Amending return for stimulus check

I'm in a pickle right now, as I filed for taxes 2 months ago my father wanted to claim me. So I put down that I could be claimed by him. He then did his taxes after and found out that I made too much money in 2019 for him to claim me. I didn't worry about changing it at the time because it didn't affect how much I was going to get. But now I won't be eligible to get the 1200$ stimulus check being I put down that I could be claimed. Should I amend my taxes and change it? and if I do will it still work?

You should amend your taxes. There is no charge to amend a return that you already did on TurboTax.

You will need to mail your amended return in. It generally takes about 4 to 6 weeks to process.

You will need to wait until the IRS has accepted your original return before filing the amendment. If you are to receive a refund, wait until you receive it before filing the amended return. If you owed the IRS money, then wait for your payment to clear.

For TurboTax Online, simply login to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.” If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.

You can find out more about amending a return here.

I am in the same pickle! I filed an amendment. But that reply did not answer the question of if I will get a stimulus check or not.

You will be eligible for the stimulus payment once your amendment is processed showing that you are not a dependent.
