Amended return

So we paid our tax liability for a particular year (tax lien paid off). I am refiling this particular year with an amended return. In the process we are owed a refund. Is there a particular place in the amended return that we enter the taxes previously paid or will the IRS figure out they owe this money back?

The IRS will have the information they need to process ant refund due to you.

So to confirm I do not enter payments to the IRS on the amended return unless it is the "normal" estimated tax payment?

If your payments were correct on the original return there would be nothing to amend on the amended return.
